Position: Assistant Professor in History

Job Status: Full-time College/School: College of Education and Human Development

Department: Behavioral and Social Sciences

Reports To: Dean, College of Education and Human Development

The history program within COEHD seeks an Assistant Professor of History to teach a wide variety of undergraduate history courses.

Responsibilities: 1. Teaches a variety of undergraduate courses across a range of history disciplines. 2. Conducts student recruitment and retention activities for the program. 3. Provides academic advising for students within the program. 4. Participates in curriculum review and renewal. 5. Assists in program assessment and evaluation. 6. Serves on department/college/university committees as assigned. 7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Required): 1) Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues. 2) Commitment to working in an environment that values diversity and collaboration. 3) The ability to use technology for creating and maintaining ongoing databases, or the aptitude and willingness to learn it. Qualifications (Preferred): 1) Teaching experience in higher education preferred. 2) Knowledge of State of Michigan standards for teacher certification training and university mission. 3) Evidence of scholarship or scholarly potential pertaining to the field.
